Arm Surgery in Plano, Texas (TX)

An arm surgery or arm lift is a cosmetic procedure intended to remove sagging skin and flesh from underneath the arms. Sagging skin beneath the arms often occurs as a result of extreme weight loss. The arm lift is intended to return arms to a slimmer appearance. It can be combined with liposuction if fatty deposits are present under the arms.

This procedure is usually performed under general anesthetic. You will probably need to spend at least one night in the hospital after your procedure. Most surgeons attempt to place the incisions in your skin's natural folds, to minimize the appearance of scars. The arm lift does, however, generally leave visible scars which will fade with time.

You will need to wear surgical support garments around your arms for at least two weeks following your arm lift. Bruising, discomfort and inflammation may last for as long as four weeks. You may need to limit your activities, especially those that require use of the arms, for up to four weeks after an arm lift. Scars may fade over a period of six months to two years, depending largely on how badly the individual patient typically scars.
